Be Mine - Chapter#14

A poor little girl with no hope of living was rescued by some men calling themselves the Black Eagles and providing her a safe place to live a peaceful life. This was the biggest miracle of Shahina's existence, but it doesn't happen every day. That was the first lesson she learned today. The second and most important lesson was, to never believe that you know someone because people tend to change.

A few minutes ago, when Shahina refused to sit beside Yawar in the front seat, she witnessed his new side. Yawar calmly opened the door for her, instead of saying something harsh or threatening her like he used to do. He just stood there leaning against the car and stared at her. It took some time for Shahina to realize that it could become a problematic situation for her if things stayed like this. She was a regular visitor to this library and didn't want people to associate her with the guy standing before her.

No matter how much she dislikes him, Shahina admits that Yawar's personality is eye-catching, he may not be handsome, but his tall and strong physique is enough to make him stand out. Along with the wealthy background of the Black Eagles which shows by his branded clothes and the vehicle he drove, made him a person whom everyone admires. And such a man waiting for an average-looking girl like herself, felt quite odd. Digesting this reality, Shahina stepped forward and accepted his offer.

'Good girl.' Yawar mumbled closing the door.

Now, she was sitting beside Yawar, glancing at the time on her mobile every three minutes and fidgeting every time she felt Yawar's eyes on her. At some point Shahina started to tremble out of fear, the road Yawar turned to was unknown to her. Still, she remained silent, quietly praying in her heart to reach home as soon as possible. She has been living with Yawar under the same roof for years but she was still unable to comprehend how his mind works. Especially, since he went out of the city to study, Yawar has become extremely unpredictable. His actions and his words have now become the opposite of the look in his eyes. His unwavering intense gaze made her self-conscious. These gazes were unknown to her and she had no idea what to think of it.

Shahina stole a glance at him from the corner of her eyes. Yawar's attention was fully on the road. Mustering up, the courage, she said, "It's late, please don't take the long route."

Yawar's face turned to her with a surprised look at this she instantly lowered her gaze. He barely held his smile, she initiated to say a whole sentence to him. Despite being aware of Shahina's anxiousness, he was happy. Whether it was because of her presence next to him, her nervous movements, or because he got what he wanted.

A little time alone with her before going back and her nervousness was quite amusing

"I'll be driving the whole night... I need something proper to eat and after it, a cup of coffee to keep me awake."

Shahina opened her mouth to say something but didn't speak and Yawar noticed it.

"Say it!"

"..... Amma-bi -"

"If you say Amma-bi one more time I will drive you -" Yawar's sentence remained unfinished as Shahina's phone started ringing. He understood her concerns when the name 'Amma-bi' appeared on her phone screen.

"Tell her that you are with me."

Shahina didn't answer, it seemed, she wasn't in the state of listening. Her eyes were fixed on the phone in her hand. As if something will pop out from it anytime and devour her. Yawar sighed and snatched the phone, by the time the call was ended, he dropped the phone on her lap again and took out his phone from his pocket. He called Amma-bi, before she let the entire city know, Shahina wasn't picking up the phone.

"Assalam o Allaikum, Amma-bi." Upon hearing his voice, Yawar noticed that Shahina turned to him.

"Amma-bi, Shahina is with me right now." And with that, her face turned pale.

"I'll tell you everything after reaching home... Yes, will be there in an hour.... Sure... Allah Hafiz."

Yawar put his phone back into his pocket and looked at Shahina who was still staring at him in utter horror.

“Quit it, I feel embarrassed by your intense stare.” Shahina took a few moments to register his words and when she did, her breaths stopped for a second. Feeling awkward she turned her face and pretended to fix her scarf which hung loosely on her head. Doing so, her phone fell down from her lap and Yawar let out an audible laugh. Ashamed of her situation, Shahina didn’t even try to pick up her phone, she just sat still like nothing had happened.

“Should I pick it up for you?”

“No!” She squirmed to the door and defensively raised her hands.

“Relax, I am not asking you to be my food.” With that, Yawar stopped the car and jumped out saying, “I’ll order something for you too.”

Dumbfounded, Shahina just stared at him going away. He didn’t even bother to ask what she wanted to eat.
